Hi there I am wondering what's the best way to break up with someone nicely?

If you are wondering why it's because I don't like him. At all. The only reason I am going out with him is because of peer pressure and we are/were really good friends so I'd thought it would work. Because we are/were good friends I don't want to be rude or mean and then he started telling my friend that he really likes me and stuff so yeah... I asked my friends about it and they said to grow a pair or just say your lesbian.... I don't know what to do please help!
