Not as good?

When my bf posted this I instantly thought that maybe I'll never make him as happy as his ex did.. I don't know another way to look at it but needless to say I'm very sad

He may be saying that because his ex might have really hurt him to the point that he still struggles with that pain or letting that hurt and anger go. You should talk to him and see what he means. Don't assume you're not as good as her. If you weren't, he'd be with her right now and not you.

It might not even be about you. Has he lost family members? Ask him what he means by it.

Maybe try talking to him about it. If he was hurt by his ex, you might be able to help him through it & it'll bring you guys closer together. It could also be completely unrelated to his ex. Has he had anything in his past that could have hurt him? I think the best thing to do is just talk to him & let him know how you feel.
