Ok so recently my disgusting neighbor put a pile of broken furniture and stuff out side then a few days later we had bugs in our apartment. I told my property manager. He simply said he would take a look at her apartment and see if we needed to get spray.

Um no we have bugs in our apartment so no matter what something needs to get done. And the pile of garbage needs to go.

I told him that he needed to do something either way. He didn't respond. So I told him we needed to talk to him in person and asked him to come over after work. Again no response. Tried calling him. No answer..

My boyfriend's mom said we could call orkin and have them treat our apartment and take it out of our rent and just give him the receipt and whatever's due for rent after that.

I'm wondering if this is true? Can we really pay orkin to do that and then only pay the balance of the rent?

Idk if i worded that properly. So let me give an example.. Our rent is 400 so say they charge 200 to do it. Would we be legally allowed to post 200 for rent and give him the receipt from orkin. And have that be considered rent paid in full?

Btw we are in New York State.
