Want an IUD

So I was in birth control and it didn't work. I would always forget it because my life doesn't have a set schedule. Shit happens. Now I've read that getting an IUD before ever giving birth hurts. But I would rather have something like that, than run the chance of a condom breaking and getting pregnant while I'm still finishing school. I of course would still use a condom with an IUD cause nothing is ever 100%, except for abstinence. My question is for the ladies that have them and haven't given birth, does it hurt to get it? And to the ladies that go to University of Michigan, have you had a student so it? If so, we're you in excruciating pain?
