Anyone have to be induced due to babies size?

I just had my 35 week ultrasound and baby has dropped to 11 percent 4.5 pounds. She still grew 7 ounces in 2 weeks but they said if she doesn't show improvement and has no interval growth they will have to induce me in 2 weeks. Anyone else been through this? Any advice would be appreciated!

I haven't been through it yet but just found out today I'll need to be induced at 39+3 (next Tuesday) due to baby measuring small. At my 36 week scan his weight was measuring in the 15th % and a couple measurements on him were measuring in the 3rd % but he appeared healthy. Still not what I wanted to hear and certainly not in my birth plan to be induced but we can't control these things! We have to do what is best for baby :) good luck and try not to worry as I have been doing. Our babes are just small :)

I can completely relate. My ultrasound today showed the baby was measuring overall in the 20th percentile but that the head was less than 1%. Not what we wanted to hear. But the biophysical score was perfect (breathing, blood pressure, movement, etc)

I'm 37 weeks and Doctor said that we'll need to do another ultrasound next week to make sure the baby is still scoring well but that she doesn't think she's going to let me go beyond 39 weeks and will probably talk induction at the next appointment.

Tough not to worry when told things won't get to happen naturally, but have to trust the doctors. I hope all goes well with both of you!!

That should not be a reason to induce. I was induced for "suspected IUGR" at 39 weeks, my baby was btw 5-7% from about 34 weeks and induction was NEVER recommended until 39 weeks. 11% is still within "normal" and my doctor was only concerned when my baby fell below 10%. Have you need referred to a high risk Obgyn for a second opinion and ultrasound? That was the procedure for me, and induction was only recommended after they both saw me and made the decision together (regular and high risk obgyn). Your doctor seems to be throwing around induction like it's not a big deal.

Get a second opinion.

I am actually going in tomorrow to be induced at 37+3 because my baby has dropped below the 10th percentile, so officially diagnosed with IUGR. She only measured at 4lb 13oz at my 36 week scan. I'm all sorts of nervous about it. Sorry I don't have any advice but you definitely aren't alone in this experience. It's scary for sure!
