Formula feeding rules??

Okay so I'm a first time mom, my son is 3 weeks old. I was breastfeeding up until 2 days ago I started giving him formula, the doctor said I have to limit the formula feeding.?? So just wondering what are the rules n stuff for that because I don't want to over feed my baby or something. Like how many ounces each feeding n how many times do I feed him for how long in how many hours etc. Thanks.!

I formula feed. At 3 weeks I gave my daughter 2 ounces of formula every 2 to 3 hours or as needed, you will be able to tell if baby is still hungry after 2 then make another 2. Make sure you always make a fresh bottle and discard after 1 hour if baby didn't finish

What? No no. You feed on demand at this stage. Newborns need to eat frequently because they have tiny stomachs

Feed him until he's full. My doctor never said anything like limiting how much they take.

Feed baby till they're full! If 2 ounces doesn't fill them up then give them two more they'll stop when full. Make sure you burp them good it'll help with spit up. If your baby doesn't finish what you've made them you can refrigerate the left overs within an hour and use within 24 hours as long as you re warm it

My daughter was 5 lbs when she was born. They told me to feed her 2 oz every 4 hrs. Ha! I gave her 4 oz every 2-4 hrs,poor baby was hungry! She is now almost 7 and 57lbs. Perfectly healthy. There is no rule, you'll know how much you need to feed baby

Just think - if we breast feed on demand; couldn't we do the same for formula or a similar arrangement? It just seems ironic that he's asking you to limit food just because it's formula. Weird.

That's ridiculous! Feed your babe till they're not hungry anymore. Some days my daughter only has 14oz, other days she'll have closer to 34oz. She's 8.5mo now but the days she only drinks 14 or so are few and far between. She's holding steady at 22oz and 2 meals a day and we're slowly increasing to 3 meals a day.
