Is it normal to spot before your period?

I've never had this happened before. There's no possible way I'm pregnant. 3 days in a row, when I wiped I had a little bit of pinkish/brownish/reddish discharge and I was spotting a tiny bit. I'd just like to know if this is normal or not. I'm 9 days away from my period.
