So, I work on Joint Base Andrews and was on lockdown from the reported active shooter today. Ended up being a misunderstanding. Just want to say how thankful I am that it was a false alarm and they released us fairly quickly. The news portrayed the story quite innacurately, but that was due to their own ignorance. As a government employee, I realize how the government doesn't always disclose everything for "need to know".

I am 5 weeks from my due date and just so so thankful I was in good hands. I easily could have panicked and triggered labor, but base security in conjunction with my chain of command secured our building within probably 2 minutes. The training we are taught, at times it just becomes instinct and I'm so proud and I feel lucky to serve with the people I serve with today.

Stay vigilant out there! I don't think Americans are vigilant enough. See something, say something. No harm in possibly being wrong. We can save another national/global heartbreak if we choose to be more suspicious and proactive!!
