Ovarian Cancer?

Question

I recently had an ultrasound and it showed I have a 2.4 cm ovarian cyst. I have also recently developed symptoms of IBS. Could this be due to ovarian cancer? I wouldn't be worried if I didn't already know I have a cyst. I'm only 19 and there isn't a family history of cancer but I'm still concerned.

Cysts are generally not cancerous, and are not a sign that you have ovarian cancer... Ovarian cysts generally occur due to hormonal imbalance... If there are several such cysts, it can lead to a group of symptoms called as poly-cystic ovarian syndrome(PCOS)... So, although you should not be concerned about cancer, still it's advisable to see a doctor and get it treated.

I had a cyst found out at the er and i started freaking out and crying and they said it was non cancerous they had no reason to think otherwise as there were no indications of cancer but ovarian cancer runs in my family as do all of the other cancers known to man kind
