Is anyone else getting epic (see pic) spit-ups?

My first baby never spit-up like this but she was still nursing at this age... So I'm not sure if this just happens with bottle-fed babies or if this truly is "epic" and I should consider changing formulas...

That's not spit-up, that's throw-up. Spit up is a small amount, 1 oz to half of an ounce is considered to be spit-up. That is just a full on barf. Please let your baby's pediatrician know about this next time you have a doctors visit. Poor baby.

My baby is ebf and did this too. He was eating too fast and getting gassy. We've since started burping him mid feeding and he's been fine.

That is a lot. At 3 weeks old you need to consult her doctor. Is it happening with every feeding? Do you have a family history of pyloric stenosis?

I think that's vomit, not spit up. It looks totally undigested, so I'm guessing it happens during or immediately after a feeding? It might be from eating too fast or too much. Try burping at every half ounce or even just stopping the feeding frequently to make sure he's not drinking too fast. If it's happening well after the feeding or if it's projectile, it could be reflux. But unless there's also diarrhea, it's probably not an allergy to the formula.

you're probably over feeding lol. I've had this problem 3-4 times. I asked the peds Doctor and she said just limit the food

Yup, my baby has an "Exorcist moment" maybe every other day when she either eats too much, or has a big pocket of air that the whole feeding comes up with the burp. Freaked me the hell out the first few times, but doc says it's normal to happen occasionally. Baby is gaining weight nicely and in perfect health, so now it doesn't freak me out anymore, just a big mess to clean up.  Try burping baby multiple times during feeding. That's helped cut down on eruptions for us.

UPDATE: "epic spit-up" was the early symptom of hypertrophic pyloric stenosis- tissue blocking the exit of the stomach to the intestines.

While the ped. initially raised this as a possibility it was ruled out because my LO was still producing wet and poopy diapers, gaining weight, and was otherwise happy. When the "epic spit-ups" became more frequent I went back to the ped, who ordered an ultrasound, which ultimately led to the diagnosis.

Thanks to the ped ordering the ultrasound (even without most of the other symptoms) we were able to diagnose before he lost weight or got dehydrated.

We had to switch to slower flow nipples and helped tremendously!!
