Kids more important then spouse???

My husband and I got into an argument and told him that I didn't need him, I needed my kids, I only wanted him. So he got offended and said you need to read the Bible more.

So I said I need to read the Bible cause I put my kids before your needs, and I love my kids more, and they're more important then you are. (He's their step father). Please no bashing. Just wanted other inputs about it...
