Promise rings?

What are your thoughts on promise rings? Do you think they should be apart of a relationship (adult)? Or do you think they for for younger couples?

I think promise rings are dumb. Why not just get an engagement ring?

I think they are dumb. I felt the same way in high school. It's a promise that some day I will promise to marry you. Either get engaged or just date. If he wants to buy jewelry fine but saying its a promise of something is silly. To each their own though.

My husband got me a promise ring our first Christmas together. 
The next year, I got an engagement ring.

My now husband got me one in high school. I feel it's more for that age. More for couples who arent ready for an engagement but maybe ready to say "hey I really enjoy you or even love you and I want to continue this" once out of high school it feels kinda silly. Maybe the first couple years of college. But not much after that. Relationships feel more serious after that and engagement should be thought about.

Well my SO and I are going to have to have a long distance relationship. We want to get married after those few years, but since we can't tell the future he gave me a promise ring and we promised to hold out for each other. We'll make the engagement official when we are living together again, because that'll be when we can actually start planning the wedding date and all that goes with that. So I don't think promise rings are necessarily stupid. It gave us a way to recognize our level of commitment to each other while also recognizing we're still having to wait a few years apart first. We're also early to late twenties, to answer that part of the prompt.

My man got me one for Valentine's Day this year we've been together for 2 years and he's my absolute best friend. We were best friends before we started dating and I have no doubt he's my soul mate whether we're together forever or not a promise ring just means (to us anyway) that he wants me forever, that one day the promise ring can go on my right hand because it'll be replaced with an engagement ring☺️☺️ treats me like a queen and I couldn't be more proud to wear that ring evry day❤️

I personally find them pointless... If you're going to promise to be together and eventually get married, why not just get an engagement ring? In high school maybe as a sign that y'all are exclusive or something, but as adults? It just feels childish and pointless. Then again, my hubby and I skipped engagement and just got married because I didn't see the point in waiting if we wanted to be married and didn't want a huge wedding. But to each their own-- some girls like the progression of multiple rings and some sort of fairy tale series of promises in varying degrees.

I don't agree with promise rings. No matter what the age. What are you promising? That you will love them? That you with be faithful? Then if you do then get down on one knee and marry them.

Promise rings are for kids. If you want to commit to someone as an adult propose to them with an engagement ring.

This might be frank and probably make me seem rude, but I honestly think if you need a ring to show your commitment to somebody, there are bigger issues!
