Florence
My husband was flying my daughter back east to stay with my sister and her family for a couple weeks. On their flight out there, my husband and daughter shared a row with an elderly man. Both my husband and daughter fell asleep pretty early into the flight, but my husband ended up waking up mid-way. When he awoke, he saw that our daughter was sound asleep on the poor guy's arm.
"Oh no! I'm so sorry, here let me take her."
The older gentleman looked over at him and whispered, "Its okay, it was an early flight. Let her sleep."
It may not mean much, but for some reason this had me in tears. In a world where compassion is slowly waning, a small occurrence like this--where a complete stranger allows himself to sit uncomfortably for a bit longer all to ensure a little girl gets a good nap--gives me comfort if only for a quick moment. There is still good in the world & it does not & will not go unnoticed.
