When should I test?

So I was due to start to my period 2 days ago, still nothing. I'm just wondering do i leave it another few days to make sure or test now? We've been trying for 2 years and I'm trying my very best not to get my hopes up :)

I testes today and it was negative. Still no AF so fingers crossed. If I've still not had AF in a few days I'll retest :)
