Embarrassing puberty stories

Once when I was about 10, I was reading a book my mother gave me about the changes a woman's body goes through during puberty. I was sitting at the table, and came upon a section about menstruation that I didn't really understand and was entering a section about masturbation. I didn't really understand what either of those were, but I wanted to ask my mom to clarify "menstruation". Instead, I asked her, "What is masturbation?" I had mixed up the words accidentally but the look on her face priceless! She was very obviously shocked, but she explained it. I knew that wasn't the answer I was looking for but I didn't try to correct myself because I didn't want to mess it up again. Looking back on it, that was hilarious.
