Am I being selfish?

Question

I just had my LO 12 days ago and my SO is already talking about more kids in the future. But after the birthing experience that I had and things that came after I don't think I want anymore children. Am I being selfish?

Nope, not selfish!

If your husband had just gone through what you did, he wouldn't be talking about doing it again either.

We're built to forget how terrible it is though so the human race doesn't die out. Hard to believe now, but at some point you might look back and think "it wasn't so bad, we should have another!"

I'm at about 3 months PP and although I *know* it was the most painful experience I've ever been through, I don't have the same emotional reaction to thinking about it as I did in the first month. For a while there, the memory of it and thought of going through it again made me cry!

You'll forget. Neither of my births were bad but both of my pregnancies were. And the caring for a newborn is hard. But I had a second because I forgot how terrible it was. Now I remember.

No!! I had a terrible pregnancy and long (traumatic)delivery. I need to distance myself from the memory before even think about it. You're not selfish!
