Is it too early to buy furniture?

Question

I found a used Delta convertible crib for $70 and its in great condition other than missing screws. I don't think the screws will be a huge fix.

Anyway, my husband wants to wait to buy anything until we see what we get at our baby shower. I don't know if I agree though. I'd rather buy a cheap, used, good quality crib and the let people purchase other stuff on our registry (if they want to of course).

Just wanted to get some thoughts. I'm also worried about not having energy to do all that stuff AFTER our baby shower.

No. I just bought a used crib for $100 that retails for $700. Don't think anyone is gonna buy me a better one! Don't count on someone buying a crib anyway, what if no one does and then that deal is gone? Just buy it and people will spend money on other things they might not otherwise.

It's not to early, especially if it's a good deal and you have space. I made a registry, but am shopping for used, as well as telling people to shop for used- or tell me if the find used similar to my listed item, to send it to me, I might get it cheap and take it off my registry. "New" isn't important.

i would buy it  we bought all our big stuff on our own like the  bed, carseat, stroller and just put stuff like nice bottle sets and baby wash baskets on my registry

I would wait until after the shower honestly. Put the crib on your registry... someone may actually buy it for you. If they don't, go out and get your used one. I bought my daughter's crib after the shower. It only took about a week to get here and my fiancé and I put it together with no issues. The baby probably won't even sleep in it for the first few months, so I really wouldn't worry about getting it now.

I bought all my own furniture because I cared what the furniture was style wise. If you think family might chip in and get it, register for what you want. Finding used furniture is easier than you think so u jess this is the exact model and color you want you can pass it up

I don't recommend cribs, just because i have heard of so many crib deaths and babjes dieing of SIDS. My little cousin died for sids being inside a crib she was was 8 months old. If I was you, I would buy a basinett. You can find cheap and reliable basinetts. :) If you go to Walmart.com they sale delta basinetts that range from $40 and up..  But its all up to you! If you want the crib, talk to your husband, I don't think someone will buy you a crib for a baby shower present unless it was something you guys agreed on or what not.

I'd buy it but only after checking all safety standards for that particular model and year that it was made.
