so I came to Mexico from the US on vaca & I didn't know my passport was expired but I got in the country somehow bc they really didn't ask to see it. anyway I noticed it was expired when I got to my destination & was unpacking & I just flipped it open looking at it & boom... it expired in April. so I'm freaking out thinking how am I gonna get back into the US? FYI I look Hispanic bc well I am Hispanic dark hair brown skin the works yknow. I asked my mom (back in the US) yknow what should I do? she told me I had to go to the American embassy in Mexico w my birth certificate, social security, drivers license, & my expired passport (which I have all of that) but she said they'd "probably" let me slide through. also FYI I am a US citizen I was born in Chicago, Illinois. I know I'm probably just paranoid bc like why wouldn't they let a natural born citizen back in to the country right? anyway I know this isn't really like usual to be asking but I'm just panicked & idk if any of you know how it works or been in the same situation or can give me advice or your opinion on what they'll do.
