What's term?

I thought it was 37 weeks? Am I wrong? I sat in L&D 6 hours today and repeatedly given shots to stop contractions. 3 shots and pills as well. Doctor refused to take baby out. I'm 37 weeks and 3 days so I'm confused.

That's weird. Usually at 37 weeks they will not stop you. I delivered my first at 37 weeks 3 days

The only way this make sense to me is if you were having contractions but weren't actually dilating and it wasn't true labor so for you to be comfortable they stopped contractions. I wouldn't let them stop me after 37 weeks that's ridiculous.

In US 37 weeks is considered early term, however this is the point where they won't stop labor if it's brought naturally. Full term is 39 weeks which has now become when induction and csections are considered appropriate (unless medically necessary earlier). Now I know not all dr follow or up to date on current research from ACOG, so don't jump down my throat ahaha just stating facts.

Don't take the pills and go to another hospital if you feel comfortable about it bc my doctor told me she won't stop labor after 36 weeks! My first born was born at 37w

How odd... My doctor actually wouldn't have attempted to stop labor after 36 weeks (that's based on patient to patient for him, it's normally 37 weeks). I actually think it's policy for most hospitals to let babies come after 37 weeks. I don't know why they would have stopped it.

Just today my doctor told me I will be term tomorrow, which I will be 37 weeks along. She said whenever baby is ready they'll be ready to deliver. So that's weird they stopped your labor.
