Does getting a tattoo actually hurt?

I want to get a tattoo for my 18th birthday but still debating.. does it Hurt? Is it worth it? What design did you get? Drop tattoo pictures! !! I want this but not sure feel free to give me ideas!!

Whether a tattoo hurts or not depends on a lot of things: your pain tolerance, the artist, where it's going, the work involved. I have several large pieces, several in progress large pieces, and numerous small ones ...ones that should have hurt, that my artist said brought "large, football players to tears," I slept through. The back of one knee had my footer king all over because of nerves, but the back of the other knee didn't hurt at all.

It all really depends on the person. But if you're scared of the pain, you're not ready. My first tattoo artist told me that & I have to agree.

Depends on where you get it and your pain tolerance. This was my first one at 18 and I actually enjoy the feeling.

Truth is, tattoos aren't gonna feel good. It's a needle going into your skin. Lol. But if you love it, it's so worth it. And once you get one you'll be addicted. I actually work at a tattoo parlor. And the  thigh is said to be one of the most painful spots to get a tattoo. But with the right artist he/she can make it as painless as possible. Make sure it's a good artist. 👍🏼

I have one on my shoulder that didn't hurt much at all and one on my side that hurt terrible. I have one on my lower hip area that wasn't bad but didn't hurt at times. It depends on where.

I've never got one but both my parents have a bunch and they say that it doesn't hurt it just kinda feels like the area is getting irritated but nothing bad

I've got a tattoo on my shoulder and it didn't hurt nearly as much as I thought it would. The worst part was filling it in but mostly because it was up near my ear and just hearing it buzz was uncomfortable. And it felt more like an itch than pain. I read somewhere if you eat something or take a Motrin before it'll make it a little easier.

Totally depends. My largest tattoo took 6 hours and was painless. I took a nap. My smallest tattoo was SO painful and only took 15 minutes.
