When it's hot outside the lakes get very warm and deadly bacteria multiplies. Hear those stories about flesh eating bacteria? True stuff. I've seen it in my own hospital. Guy went fishing and scraped his leg on the side of a boat at the lake. His leg was amputated a few days later. Even if your mucous plug is intact and your baby might be safe, you may not be. If it isn't chlorinated water I wouldn't be taking the chance.

If your water happens to break or is leaking early on do not go in that lake!  Otherwise it's totally fine the baby is in a sack in your uterus that is plugged with mucus and your cervix.  Def shower after being In The lake though. Pregnancy throws off your Ph balance sometimes and can make it easier to contract a bacterial infection which can be dangerous for your baby. So, if you notice any symptoms or signs of an infection see your dr ASAP.

My parents bought a Lakehouse a few months ago... I specifically asked my dr if there was any issue and was told it was totally fine!

As long as your doctor says it's ok for you then I see nothing wrong with it. Sometimes they prefer you be so far along and I think also as long as your not in the last month of pregnancy or if you've had early signs of labor. Every Dr. is different though. But other than that it is alright to swim in a lake.
