Father to be talking to baby...?

Is it just my father to be who gets discouraged talking to the baby? He says he doesn't know what to say. I feel like he should be talking to him more to get a better baby-daddy bond. But he like refuses....

My husband tries and the voice he uses actually annoys me but I would never tell him that. We joke because it sounds like he's leaving the baby voicemail.."Hi baby, it's your daddy.."

Don't pressure him into talking to your tummy (the baby!) if it makes him uncomfortable. That's the worst thing you can do if you want him to bond. Men bond in different ways to us. I'm pregnant with number 5 and I felt the same as you now when it was our first, I wanted him to talk and touch my tummy all the time and it just annoyed him. Now I just tell him nice things, tell him the baby kicks when it hears his voice (it doesn't always but he like that idea!!) and I tell him it kicks when it hears his music so they must have the same taste. Work out what your husband/partner likes and responds to and work with that, there will be plenty of time for the real bonding once it's born. Some women even have trouble talking to their own baby. It's hard cause there is a disconnect.  He doesn't have to talk to the baby, the baby will hear his voice when just talking to you.

My husband feels silly when he talks to my bump too and I don't blame him. I feel silly myself when I talk to the baby but I do it to encourage my husband. He's getting better about it, I told him that this way the baby will possibly recognize his voice too and that helped. I've also told him that he should read to the baby because then you don't have to think of things to say.

I think you have to put yourself in his shoes. He doesn't experience all the feelings, emotions, and hormones we feel. They only feel the occasional kick and for all intensive purposes they see our bellies change but also could fool their brains into the we're getting "chunky" idea. My husband has never talked to my belly (baby #3 due in October) and I've never thought anything negative of it. He bonds with them when they are here and doesn't take long. Even when I'm so excited about the baby coming and I'm trying to get things together and ready and prepping for her arrival, it's hard to get him excited about it all because he's just not in the same state of mind as me.

My hubby won't even touch my belly. When he holds me he avoids it like the plague.  I'd love him to atleast talk,   But I can't force him. He can bond when baby gets here and he's changing nappys lol. Baby knows his voice, I get kicked when he talks to me lol.

My husband has also been reading to baby and it is awesome because she is now recognizing his voice and when he starts reading she starts moving like crazy.  He reads every night to her around 8pm before he goes to work.

My husband talks to our baby girl every night before we go to bed. He lays his head on my belly & tells her how much he loves her & tells her to kick me lol. She loves it & starts kicking up a storm!
