Enemas safe during first trimester!?!?

I am severely constipated and have a BM the  size of a pop can down near my rectum that won't come out (sorry for the tmi) I have tried ducosate sodium, Metamucil, water and coffee and it's not helping.. Was thinking of trying glycerin suppository today and if it didn't work was going to try enema... Please tell me it's safe?

You're not supposed to use them, but I have, when the pain and uncomfortable feeling was too much to handle. Made me feel soooo much better and my baby is fine. I used the fleet saline enema. Now I use Miralax every other day to prevent it from getting that bad again. Warning though, your butt will bleed if the poo is that thick/large, so be prepared!

I broke down and did one, at this point I felt I had no other choice it was that bad! It only took about 5 minutes to work and I got the pop can out! I feel so much better, thank you for putting my mind at ease, even though it may not have been extremely safe I felt the danger of getting a bowel obstruction was way worse.

I would try colace. It always helps when I'm constipated, and it's safe.

Hey, I had the same problem. Made me soooo sooo miserable & grouchy! Metamucil isn't so good because it can cause your poop to become a blockage.

My OB recommended Miralax, which works great (after a few days of taking it). It's pretty gross but if you plug your nose it's better. It's a colorless, flavorless powder you add to your drink.

Also, try warm prune juice. I've heard that it works amazingly when it's warmed up. Good luck! Let me know how it goes.

Ugh so sorry that sounds miserable. I do not know, probably depends on what is in it.
