Glucometer

So I was diagnosed with GD earlier this week and told to make an appt for a nutritionist and diabetes educator . Well I got an appt for the nutritionist for Monday however can't get into the diabetic educator for 3 weeks!! I am beyond annoyed!! I'd like to start checking sugars now so I will have info for her when I see her (and I feel like 3 weeks is WAY to long). Did you ladies get glucometer and supplies through the dr, insurance or just had to buy it yourself?
