Milk supply....help!!
Hello all, I had twins boys June 2 (born at 34 weeks)..they both went right into the NICU, one came home a week ago and the other is still in NICU. They were bottle fed until hey can start breastfeeding because breastfeeding burns more calories than bottle feeding and one of the goals while in the NICU is to gain weight. Anyways, I have been pumping from day one and had a huge supply for the first couple of weeks and as of about 2 weeks ago I noticed a decrease in my supply. I had a huge reserve in the freezer and am panicking because that supply is dwindling because I have to constantly pull our milk to defrost for my son that is home because he is finicky breastfeeding now since he was so used to being bottle fed in NICU. I feel so guilty but I am contemplating starting to supplement with formula and then make the transition because I don't know how to keep up with the demand of 2 babies
My question is, have you experienced a drop in supply and were you able to get it back up (especially having twins!)?
Have any of you experienced having a baby home and one in the NICU and how did you find a schedule to feed, pump, and visit the baby in NICU?
Have any of you made the transition to formula and how did that go, any suggestions?
Thank you in advance!
