Ovulation and period timing

From what I've read ovulation is what starts the period countdown clock. So a late period  means you ovulated late (if you're not pregnant). I haven't had my period since miscarrying but had a positive opk (after verifying hcg was 0) and felt my normal ovulation cramps and should have gotten either my period or bfp on Sat. No sign of either. Been getting cramps off and on for two weeks and a mix of pregnancy symptoms but wonky BBTs. Is this normal after a miscarriage? Is it possible I just ovulated later despite the opk and what I felt?
