Anyone here DOES NOT want kids?

I'm 24 and having the hardest time of my life. I am getting married next year and I am 90% sure I don't want kids. People usually say : " oh you will get over that" but quite frankly, the whole pregnancy/mom thing is just not for me. I'm afraid of things changing in our relationship and with myself. Plus I don't like kids , I don't care for them. I don't care to be in pain or wake up every 2 hours to fed a child.

I can't wrap my head around motherhood. Anyone going thru the same?

You'd be amazed how your perspective changes when you have your own child. Kids are an extremely hard pill to swallow. They're tiny screaming bottomless pits for the first year, then tiny terroristic bottomless pits for the next 5 years or so.....but when you have one that is your own flesh and blood, you created this tiny being. It's half of you and half of the person you're in love with. It's so different when you have one that is yours. It may never change. You may always feel that way...who knows! But we were made to be mothers....it's already in you!

When my so and I got together after it became serious we spoke about kids and decided we didn't want one, let alone two! I was 17/18 at the time, we both were on a mutual dislike of children - smelly money drainers I think was one of the phrases I produced. I was a career woman who had just got her first full time job and wanted to save money for a nice holiday just the two of us. Roll on almost a year later and I took a  funny turn at work and fainted. That day my boss took me to a&e and it turned out I was 6months pregnant. The last 3months of pregnancy I wanted to get rid of him, adoption to a nice family(always like the surrogate idea) the moment he arrived my whole attitude changed. And well here we are a whole 4 years later waiting on his little sister! Perhaps wait until you are closer to 30 to fully decide it, once it happens to you and you have that little person depending on you it totally changes you. Couldn't imagine the past 5years being any different and hate thinking of my life without my smelly little monster haha

In my twenties the last thing I wanted to think about was kids and pregnancy and all this motherhood stuff.... instead I traveled, a lot,  I did everything i wanted to do,  had a lot of fun, and enjoyed my twenties so much! Now I'm 34 and I just had my first baby.
So yes, maybe sometime you will want kids, maybe not,   but don't hurry, enjoy your young life now without the attachment of a baby. 😉

It's so sweet hearing you all talk about your kids but still, all that pain and sleep deprivation doesn't call my attention at all. I always want to be in control of my life with a child, that's not possible.

If you don't want kids then don't have them. Don't feel bad for it, it's your life not anybody else's.

I have a friend who feels the same way. She tried to get her tubes tied at 26 and they wouldn't do it in case she changed her mind. She's 33 and no kids..just be sure your husband is on the same page as you.

I sometimes feel the same, I want a baby, but i just can't stand kids. Maybe it's just other people's kids but they drive me insane, they don't listen and want everything. But at the same time I really want to be a mother to a baby.

Yup! Except I'm not engaged or getting married anytime soon but I know I don't want kids either. I actually like them I just prefer to spend my time and energy on myself and the family I was born into. But of course no hate to those who do want kids..to each his own!

You're not alone. I'm only 19 but I've never liked or wanted kids. I never planned names for them or fantasized about getting married or any of that stuff. I'm finally getting more used to the idea of marriage (still don't really see the point of weddings) but I think I dislike kids now more than ever lol. Everyone always says it's different when it's your kid or when you get older you'll come around and want them and but its so nice to have a family! And I'm like ehhh... I won't completely rule it out but I have a lot of living and stuff to do before I even entertain the idea of bringing another life into the world.
