Would you get a puppy, 10 weeks before your due date?

Question

So me and my oh have been thinking about getting a puppy a Dalmatian to be exact. But I'm debating it wether or not it'll be too much in a short space of time or if it'll be a good idea, seeing as I'm going to be home and more able to spend time training and walking etc. I am a mum of 2 boys already 6 and 3 so this baby is not like I'm going to be a new mum. What are people's thoughts and opinions?!!

Puppies are ALOT of work. Lots of repetition and training. Personally, I would go nuts with a newborn AND a puppy...lol! If it were me, I would wait until your newborn is closer to 1, then get a puppy! 😀

Honestly, I wouldn't. Dalmatians, while smart, take a lot of time and commitment to train. They require a lot of attention. I would wait a while after your LO comes before making that commitment.

Personally I wouldn't. Puppies are a big commitment on their own. House training them is hard enough. I would wait until after ur baby is born and has some form of an established routine. I have one dog and would like to get another but def waiting. I don't want to be that mom breast feeding In the front yard while trying to get my puppy to do their business outside...

I had a 6 & 2 year old and I was 9 weeks from due date, we got our rottweiler puppy. For me it was easier to house train, crate train and get the basics of behavior training out of the way BEFORE the baby was born. We had all of that completely done before baby 3 was born and they are growing up together and I wouldn't change the way we did it for a second.  On top of that I have c-sections, and I still found it less stressful to do it all prior to baby. I couldn't imagine trying to train a dog with an infant or toddler to care for. Plus she kept the other 2 entertained while I was feeding baby or doing chores 😉  here they are now 2 years later(pic 1)  1 year (pic 2)

Puppies are alot of work and this breed is going to be a big dog. Requires lots of attention and they have alot of energy. When youve got baby and sleepless nights the last thing youll need is a puppy trust me. Id await a while

Don't do it. Puppy's are a handful, you'll need a lot of time to devote to them and once the baby comes you won't have the time anymore

Oh goodness, if you take on both I praise you!! My pup was such a handful when she was young, the potty training was a breeze with her but if never owned a mastiff with as much energy as her!!

I did it and it was rough lol but worked out great because we were able to train puppy with baby, like no jumping etc

No way. Way too much work. I have a 6-year old dog and wanted to get a friend for her to keep her company, preferably another middle aged dog. I'm 25 weeks pregnant and decided it's probably not a good idea, because who knows what the dog will be like and how much it will be to take care of them, and that's with two older, calmer, potty-trained dogs - not even a puppy. I don't want her to be lonely so I figured she will just have to wait until I have the baby and then she won't be as lonely because I'll be home with her and the baby all day. I would suggest getting used to life with a new baby and then get the puppy later when you won't be overwhelmed.
