Periods always late!

Hey, so I turned 16 a few months ago and I still get late periods all the time! Sometimes it's just by a few day but it's happen where I haven't had my period in months....I'm already a month late right now and my friend said not to worry to much since my body still adjusting but I'm getting worried. Please help
