Didn't see baby today 😔

I went in to see my OB was so anxious to see baby, part of me was really nervous because after awhile we couldn't see anything but the round carved out area where he/she is supposed to be. Doc says I might be less than what we thought which is supposably 8 weeks this Friday but first day of last period was May 20. This happen to anyone else?
