17 & 21... Too much of an age difference at this time?

I've been talking to this guy, I'm 17 and a half and he's 21 and a half, almost exactly 4 years apart. Would it be okay if we dated? He seems awesome but I'm just a little leery about the age difference. Would it be illegal? Or just if we had sex? Is it normal for an older guy to want a senior in high school? I want to go for it but if there will be problems I don't want to get my hopes up.... Some advice please!!

I agree with others. But if you are having to hide it from your parents and all then it may not be worth it. I never dated too much older when I was a teen. I was 17 when I started dating my ex husband who at the time was 20. My parents knew so it wasn't a big deal. Now I'm 26 and crazy in love with a much older guy he is 48

I was 17 and my boyfriend was 22 when we first started seeing each other. It just depends. Some guys just want sex and it's easier to get it from young girls who are naïve orrrr they can genuinely want to be with you. We don't really know because we know nothing about him. I had problems with my boyfriend first seeing each other he was messing around on me, but finally grew away from that and 3 years later here we are better than ever and living together. It's hard to say. But yes it is illegal. I'm not sure about if your parents say it's okay, I think he could still be charged. But if they say no they can press charges on him and he goes to jail. That almost happened with my boyfriend.

It's normal for a slightly older guy to want to be with a younger female. I was 17 when I started dating my 19 year old boyfriend. We didn't last after almost 2 years because he wanted to continue to sleep around and I wanted acommitment. Now I'm 18 turning 19 in December and dating a guy that just turned 22 last month. My mom is perfectly fine with me dating older guys because of the trust we built with each other. She trusts me to be a responsible young woman and to have safe sex. So much better intellectually with him than with my ex. It would be illegal if you have sex since you're not 18. You said you're 17.5, so I think you can wait. Trust me. It's so much better when you know the person on a deeper level. Just wait on the sex.

It really depends, I dated a 20 year old when I was 16 and was with him until I was 18. Honestly it was awesome. I loved him and he loved me. Lots of girls go for older guys because of maturity level. That being said tread lightly because some older guys aren't the most favourable kind once you're in a relationship. Do what makes you happy :) there is really no issue with that age gap. 4 years is not much at all!

im 17 & my guy is 21 but I'll be 18 the month after he turns 22 i see no problem in it . as long as he's respectful & treats you right there's nothing wrong with it
