Comfort Nursing?

Could use some advice from other mamas.. did your babies ever nurse just for comfort? My daughter is about 2 weeks old and sometimes I know for sure she isn't hungry, just holds the nipple in her mouth and sucks gently enough to not get any food (usually right after a feeding so I know she's full). She doesn't cry when I take the boob away,  but she just roots around and is restless, but like I said, when offered the boob she doesn't even eat and falls asleep within minutes. She often won't go to sleep if she isn't on the boob first. I tried a couple brands of pacifiers but she just doesn't really seem to care for them. My boobs seriously need a break but it seems to be the only way to get her to sleep! Any advice??

Yes. It's completely a normal biological need and great for your milk supply. Try Earth Mama nipple butter for relief. 2 out of 3 of my boys hated pacifiers. If you plan on breastfeeding for the first time, I'd encourage  it because it will help increase your supply.

Totally normal, I don't know if you tried the MAM brand soother(pacifier) but they have a small one that is amazing loved their products my son did this too  and he refused a soother until 3 weeks old

These boobies are for nursing ONLY. All my babies got pacis on day one. We've exclusively used MAM

You're not alone. My 2 week old does the same. Usually when he wants to nap. If he doesn't have it he's not a happy baby. I've tried pacifiers. And don't work. I guess it's how it is lol

My 2 week old does as well, but it was becoming a burden and honestly painful so we use a paci. She didn't like the Avent soothies but she loves the MAM ones. No breastfeeding troubles either.

Have you trie the big round type pacifiers like at the hospital (Philips Avent Soothie)? Those seem to work well on breastfeeding newborns! 😊
