What sort of things take place for a doctor to put someone on bed rest?

Almost 36 weeks just curious. I have high BP in the evenings with swollon feet and throwing up

At 36 weeks, bed rest is pretty much unheard of. Usually doctors use that in the first, second, or very early third trimester to keep you from going into labor too soon.

I had the exact same thing happen to me then got told to stay off my feet. I went in because one morning I kept puking and noticed my face had gotten really swolloen and they didnt know what caused it. Then ended up being induced which that ended in a emergency c-section and my blood pressure was in stroke range. I'd just try to stay off Ur feet as much as possible.

I actually was put on bedrest at 37weeks. I've been having on and off high blood pressure and they weren't sure what was causing it. So they wanted me to stay off my feet as much as possible to keep my BP from spiking to prevent having early delivery. I tested negative for Preeclampsia. So they're thinking it may just be early onset pre hypertension (I have a strong family history on both sides of high BP). I'm currently 38w5d and I've been monitored closely the last week and a half. BP is staying down and baby is doing good. I guess it just depends on your situation as to why you would need bedrest but ultimately it's to prevent complications or preterm labor.
