They know our garage code but luckily they had enough sense not to walk in unexpected. They call us thankfully.

We gave both sets of parents keys, mainly in case we get locked out. We both have younger sisters, and on occasion one will stay here, so if neither of us are home we just say to let themselves in. They never just come over and open the door though, they always call and ring the buzzer.

Yes. My in laws have keys in case my husband  and I get stuck at work and they have to come get our dog. If they ever come in unannounced I would promptly take the key away.

We gave our parents and some close friends keys a few years ago. No surprises so far! It's nice having them be able to come over and check on things if we're out of town.

When I was in the uk only my in laws were there and I'm pretty sure they had a key to our place, just in case of emergencies or if we needed them to check something when we were away etc. But if they were coming over knowing were there they wud never use it, always ring the bell or call or whatever. Now we're in Dubai and technically there is a key at my parents house for emergencies but they never actually use it, they always use the doorbell or knock. It's never been a problem for us and honestly has been a lifesaver many times.

Yes, my FNL will come down during the day if me and hubby work and let our dogs out for us. They never come without us knowing..never had any issues with it.

We live right across the street from my parents; at the in law of my grandma's! They have the keys to my grandma's house and to our place downstairs but they never use it and respect our privacy. They'll knock on the door or ring the outside doorbell.
