Beach vacation with a 6 month old!?!?

Please comment with personal experiences or opinions!! My family goes to the Caribbean every February and my husband and I aren't sure it will be enjoyable with a 6 month old. From the plane, to the beach or going out to dinner it just sounds like it might be more stress than it's worth. What do you all think!?!? Would you go?!?

FTM due 8/18 so I don't have experience to share, but hubs and I are the traveling type and we plan to start our little bear early so that he'll be a pro. We have already planned our holiday travels, and a 2.5-week trip to Europe in May when he'll be 8-9 months. For longer flights your airline may offer the bulkhead bassinet (LIFESAVER for our 10+ hour flight in May). We also carefully planned our layovers and flight times to coincide with anticipated routines/bedtime, and allowing him downtime in the airport to play and wear himself out.

Our overall feeling is that having a baby shouldn't cramp our lifestyle, but add to it. Yes it will bring some additional new challenges, but we'd rather continue to have our adventures as a family with some adjustments than stop doing what we love to do. Also by the time he's a toddler, he'll have traveled so much that it will (hopefully) be no big deal, and we'd rather put the work in now (when they're easier to contain!) and have a travel-experienced toddler instead of trying to fly somewhere with a 2-yo for the first time.

Finally, I don't know your family situation, but I can tell you we're excited to travel with our baby to see our family because it'll be that many additional hands to help with feeding, changing, entertaining, etc. Our families are super stoked to get to spend time with their grandbaby so it'll be as much of a baby-vacation for me and hubs as it will be a family vacation with our new lil guy. 😁

My only words of wisdom are; the older they get the harder this sort of thing becomes.

Invest in a good baby carrier, at 6 months old bub will still fall asleep on you at dinner/lunch/out and about! 
Bub is also not reliant on solids which makes life so much easier when you go away!!

If it's a place you go to every year, then it's a place your comfortable at! You'll be fine with a 6 month old! My son was at the beach before he was a month old!

Go and enjoy it while you still have a little freedom! Haha xx

The plane ride will probably suck, just make sure it's snack time and nap time around take off so that hopefully you can kill some time entertaining with food and then with them napping. And def be ready to nurse or bottle feed for take off and landing to help them get through their ears popping and adjusting to the pressure.

Baby can sit on your lap or be in a seat with your car seat.  The car seat would be great to keep them confined and safer, we've always just held them on our laps though.

Good luck, I feel your pain, we'll be doing our annual week long trip to Florida in Feb with a 5 year old, 2 year old and 6-7month old.

We're taking our daughter to the beach (outer banks) at the end of September and I'm due beginning of august. It's going to be an adventure, but I can't wait! Plus... how adorable are the little baby swimsuits.. hahaha

I went from the east coast to Hawaii alone with my 6 month son to visit friends and still had a blast. Start them traveling young and you won't regret it. Especially if you plan to do this yearly.
