My mother's family is from the south, but I am not. Anyone who is from the south knows that respect is really big there. When I go to visit, my family likes to introduce me to people. I am a shy person, and I usually don't speak to people I don't know, because of it. They expect you to speak to every fucking elder you come across, but I am not that kind of person. So they end up yelling at me and telling me to stop being disrespectfull, and I tell them that's not my intentions. They tell me I need to stop being shy, but I shouldn't have to change who I am to appeal to them. Am I wrong??
