I definitely think racial profiling exists. I've seen it. I was disgusted.

What people don't understand is that profiling happens on an unconscious level as well as a deliberate one. We are constantly being given the message, through the media, the news, politics, beauty standards, Hollywood, you name it, it's everywhere, that black people are scary, ugly, menacing, rapists, threatening, etc (I cringe even writing those words). You have to make a conscious decision to recognize these powers and realize how they affect your every day decisions, your snap judgements, your treatment of others and check yourself. If you constantly deny that this is happening, you continue to feed the machine that keeps white privileges alive. It is built into the system so perfectly that people deny its very existence, even when it is so obviously there. So much needs to change to shift the perspective.

I just don't understand why cops are not required to have at least a two year college degree? Nurses have to have a degree, why not cops? College doesn't cure racism but it does help people to be more exposed to other races and learn how to work together better. Being in college would help cops to think more rationally about human life and ethical behavior. We also need better screening for cops and recruit more diverse candidates

I watched a Documentary on Netflix where many cops themselves said that profiling was extremely common in their line of work.

Or course they profile, they're human and have biases. And if they don't have people challenging those biases they're not likely to dismantle those biases.

Deffinetly, which it isn't usually a concilis choice, people are raised a certain way and aren't always aware that the have prejudice, however once you are aware of your prejudice you should try to unlearn it, because even if it is a slow process, you are still trying

If ur Hispanic with a hat and a little pick up truck I might assume u don't have papers. And u probably do.
