How should I bring up birth control to my mom?

I have extremely irregular and heavy periods and birth control seems to be the only way to really help. Im sick of changing my sheets at 3 a.m. and having to wear an ultra tampon and a pad, but how should I bring it up to my mom? If you have any other option please post in comments.

If your reason for wanting birth control is to help decrease your period symptoms, I don't see how your mother would have an issue with it. Just discuss it with her.

Just be straightforward. "Mom, my period is super irregular and very heavy and the only way to fix it is birth control. Lets go to the doctor and talk about discuss whats best."
