Cystic acne

I started getting cystic acne in December on my chin and jaw bone. It flares up around ovulation and goes back down. But it never completely disappears. I've been treating it with cortisone cream to keep the pain/ swelling down. But I was wondering what else I could do in the meantime. I'm NOT considering going on birth control
