Should twins share a bed at first?

I thought they were supposed to be separate but my family keeps saying that need to be kept together in the beginning months.

I kept my twins in the same crib/cosleeper for 3 weeks.. I started to worry because they would roll into each other during the night and I became very concerned with suffocation. I put them into separate cribs in their own room after 3 weeks and they have been doing great! I would just do trial and error and find what works best for you.

My pediatrician also has twins and she suggested they share a crib until about 3 months when they start to move and wake each other up. We have 2 cribs and 2 pack and plays so we have options but I feel like it will just be trial and error on getting them to sleep through the night.

The pediatric association recommends against it because of increased risk of SIDS. But of course, it's up to you and what works.

I believe it depends on the babies.  Do what works best for you and your family.  It worked well for us, our babies definitely slept better next to reach other for the first couple months.  Now my son flops all over the place and wakes his sister up at 4am, so they're in their own cribs but still next to each other.

One of my close friends had twins about 5 months ago and they are just now starting to get to a point where they don't sleep well together. She told me before, they wouldn't sleep unless they were together, now one purposely wakes the other up trying to play 😂 but we plan on then sharing as long as possible 😊

My twins never slept well together. They would always keep each other awake. I think it's because they spent their first month in the nicu in separate bassinets so they weren't used to sleeping together anymore
