I just got a vm on my phone from earlier today and I can't call till tm! I'm really freaked out. Why would they need bloodwork from the father?

I have beta thalassemia (a minor blood disorder), the doctor made my fiancé get blood work as well because if both parents carry that trait, it could result in a lot of complications for the baby.
