Do babies spit up at night??

So my baby hasn't been born yet but I'm a FTM and I'm worried how babies cope with spitting up at night and not choking/drowning on it??

I'm a midwife, you always lay baby to sleep on their back, I have watched babies who are asleep on their back, vomit into their mouth and then they are able to swallow a lot of it (it's pretty incredible to see), or they turn their head to the side. But that would be one of the reasons that they do also recommend baby sleeps in your room for the first few months, because you hear that, and trust me you wake up! And I used to stand with the parents and say watch what baby does, and we would watch baby swallowing the vomit no problems when on their back. Only very occasionally did I have to help a baby by lifting them up and usually that was because babies can be very mucousy after birth so it's harder to swallow then milk. 
My son was a chucker but he always lay on his back to sleep. No problems at all!

I was worried about that too and as long as you burp them well they probably won't but if they do they just make a face because it tastes bad and they just swallow it or spit it out. Babies can eat and breathe at the same time so they won't choke or drown

Yup, they do spit up and they can choke, but they generally swallow it.

My daughter spit up constantly, every time I laid her down it would just flow back out of her, I would burp her, I tried an incline, I slept her on her belly, it was the only thing that helped.

For the first few months my babe (with severe reflux) slept in a rock n play. It's the perfect angle for incline. I've also noticed that there's way less spit up at night time and I've heard it's because they're less active. Just breathe mama.
