Would you recommend getting and IUD or sticking with the pill?

I'm currently taking birth control pills and was thinking of switching to an IUD, however I've been receiving mixed responses about getting an IUD. From you ladies who have one or have had one, would you recommend getting it? My main concern is that the IUD & the strings can be felt or moved around during sex.
