Am I selfish?

Alright, a little backround. I have been verbally and emotionally abused by my mother for about 15 years. I have anxiety and ptsd because of it. She decided to have a surgery done during the summer so that I  (I'm a teacher) can care take her. She did this without asking if I could. So, I stayed with her for two days, but today I was unable to. I needed to go to the dr myself, take care of my sick dog and do my house chores that were stacking up. She is constantly texting me verbally abusive things today because I chose those things over taking care of her for a third day.  Does that make me selfish? Calling me selfish is one of her favorites.

Nope. I would turn my phone off and let her fend for herself. Just because she is "family" absolutely does not give her the right to treat you this way.

I wouldn't go back over there either, my moms the same way sadly and I stopped talking to her for close to a year till she changed, sadly the change only lasted a few months so I'm back to not answering her calls or being around her.

I was very recently in the hospital from stress induced seizures. I had like 10 seizures in 2 days. My parents came back from their vacation a day early to help with my son and 2 dogs. What started out as being helpful turned toxic very quickly. I was loaded with medication in the hospital and have issues now with extreme weakness in my left leg. For for the first 2 days or so home I was extremely tired and groggy. I was called lazy and neglecting my son. I had to report to them when I had to blow my nose but got no help when I had to change the sheets. They were with me for about a week. 2 of those days consisted of bitching me out. I was tip toe around my own hose being told what I can and cannot do. My dad kept going on about how them having to stay here was such a big inconvenience for them and my mom better not get sick. I finally told them to get the F**k out of my house. I even had to get my husband who is currently deployed involved and had to text the babysitter that no one but me was allowed to pick up my son out of fear of my parents taking him and leaving the state. My husband and I were called all kinds of things and I was told I was incompetent and they were going to have me locked up in the hospital and have cps involved. After all those years of helping them out without question when my mom is/was sick and standing by them when dealing with my crazy sister.

Am I selfish?
