What to eat before getting a glucose tolerance test?

I'm about 26 weeks and I will be getting the glucose tolerance test on Monday the 25th and I was just wonder what to eat and drink before I get the test and also I would like to know what drink and foods to avoid before having the test done.

A big pint of Ben and Jerry's ice cream, Oh wait that's for after you pass your test lol. I would stick to something like eggs, avoid carbs and sugar.

I ate a taco bell breakfast crunch wrap and drank water. Mine turned out fine. Everyone's different. If you have gestational diabetes there's nothing you can do to change the results is what I've heard.

I was told by the nurse to just eat a light breakfast, then my friend told me she had to fast. I called the lab and they told me I had to fast for 8-10 hours. So I couldn't eat anything or they wouldn't take me.

I was told by one person to fast for the 1 hour test then afterwards my actual doctor said I shouldn't have. (A student doctor was the one that gave me the referal and she told me to fast) but the 2 hour test you do fast for. It depends which test your doing. It turned out I did have it but now that LO is here it's gone.

I was told to fast before the test. Isn't that what your doctor said? They want a reading that isn't affected by water, so food seems out of the equation.

I wish I knew why I was told to fast like some, while there are others that were allowed to eat a small breakfast! I was so weak and exhausted after the 3-hour test I took last Friday because I was not allowed to have more than a few sips of water after 8pm the night before!! 15 hours without food at 29 weeks was ridiculous but I survived 😂. Now for the results, maybe tomorrow!! 😬

I was told to fast. I had black coffee 3 hours before then just water.

I would avoid anything sugary and high carb. Eat some protein...eggs are a good choice.
