How exactly do the doctors know if your a virgin or not?

They ask if you're sexually active and you answer truthfully because you care about your health and want to know if something is wrong with you (infections, etc).

although during sex many girls experience tearing/stretching of the hymen(extra skin at the lower opening of the vagina), there is no way for a doctor to know for sure if they were looking down there. every girl is different, some have no change to the hymen after sex and some are simply born with a smaller hymen. the doctor will trust your answer when they ask you if you're sexually active.
