Condoms work as a barrier to prevent semen from entering the vagina to fertilize an egg. Condoms are 98% effective when always used correctly but only 82% effective (or less) when not always used correctly.

Got this insight from glow when I logged using a condom. This is our first time using condoms and I was just wondering how they could be used incorrectly??

Using condoms incorrectly can include using an old condom, a broken condom, not pinching the top on the condom before application (causes air trapped inside to possible pop and break), reusing the same condom again, using a condom that's too big or too small, or using an oil-based lubricant during sex that can break down the latex in a condom.  Hope this helps!

A lot of couples will fool around without one i.e. Put the penis in for a second, touch genitals together, etc, that's using a condom incorrectly, you have to put it on before ANY sexual contact. People also will have sex without one and then put it on right before the guy is about to cum. Or they'll rip it with their teeth when opening it. Or it'll have a hole and they don't know. Or it'll break and the guy will accidentally cum in the girl. Those are all ways to use a condom incorrectly.
