Bumpers?

What is the point of the (breathable) bumpers? Are they just for looks?

I believe to keep babies from getting arms and legs stuck. I never used bumpers so I'm no 100% sure

They are to keep babies legs and arms from getting stuck. And at the same time won't suffocate baby like the padded ones can. I wasn't originally going to use them but once my son rolled over and moved more I used them. He was getting his legs stuck. He moved a lot at night
