Ectopic/Pregnancy of an Unknown Location?

Question

The doctor thinks this may be what's going on with me. Sonogram didn't show a baby, and my uterus, ovaries, and tubes all looked normal and healthy. However, my hcg is going up and every pregnancy test I've taken (at home or at the doctors office) is positive. 
If you have ever had an ectopic pregnancy or a pregnancy of an unknown location, what were your symptoms? What were your treatment options? Which option did you choose and why?

Started trying for baby #2 Feb 2017. In early April 2017 I had BFP with all pregnancy symptoms (fatigue, breast tenderness, backache etc). But in the third week of April (near the time my period is due), I began spotting for 2 days. OB wasn't concerned thinking I had implantation bleeding (my instincts tells me something negative), she ordered serial blood HCG anyways. On 3rd day of bleeding, began to have light period bleeding with lower abdomen cramps on left side and chills. Scared and saw OB right away, HCG was 5400 but empty uterus and nothing in tubes. 
(Devastated.scared.ashamed.in physical pain. Lost. I'm sure we all can imagine...)
48 hours later HCG 5518... abnormal, self admit to ER due to increase bleeding and cramps. Repeat ultrasound...no pregnancy again in uterus, nothing in tubes; suspicious lesion which turned out to be small fibroid. Was given option of doing nothing and wait for pregnancy to fail or methotrexate...chose the latter (2 shots in buttocks) because we realized there was no chance to have viable pregnancy. 
Intense bleeding and cramps for 2 weeks; bled total of 4 weeks after methotrexate. Took total 6 weeks after methotrexate for HCG to zero. 
Repeat ultrasound at 6 weeks after methotrexate: same thing...no pregnancy, small fibroid left side. 
Ordered HSG at 9 weeks after methotrexate: tubes clear but flow (better right side)
Repeat ultrasound at 11 weeks after methotrexate: same thing...no pregnancy, small fibroid left side. 
Now about 3 months from initial ordeal...at peace with all testings / results and decision. Took prenatal since HCG zero (last 30 days)...emotionally and physically to try again. Scared but ready and excited.
It was a very traumatic event , and only those who have been in this position would understand. I wish you all best of luck in the recovery journey (physically and mentally)

I had bleeding and had severe abdominal pain at 6 weeks. Went to ED and had to have keyhole surgery right away to remove my right Fallopian tube. It was close to rupturing so I couldn't take methotrexate injections. It was an awful experience but I got pregnant again 3 months later. I then had a missed miscarriage, which was unrelated. My thoughts are with you

Hi this is what I have just had. They think it's ectopic but nothing seen and a sac like structure in the uterus (possible pseudo sac). I had methotrexate 2 weeks ago. If they don't know where the baby is they can't do surgery without causing unnecessary damage and or scare tissue. My hcg went up slowly then dropped then rose again and then dropped after my doctor tried misoprostol. Then they rose again. Now in recovery waiting for my hcg to return to 0
