How to get smoke smell out of apartment?

My husband and I moved into a cheap apartment so we can save for a house. It stinks like smoke. Neither of us smoke who ever lived here before us must have. Does anyone know of a way to get the smell out?

I used white vinegar and water for the walls. But the best for walls is mean green and shampoo the carpets and wipe everything down with either vinegar or mean green. I also used Lysol to go over everything to help take the strong vinegar smell down some and my home smells amazing now.

Steam clean carpet and if it was bad in the walls I've heard people wash their walls.

Maybe febreeze and some odor eliminating stuff? I would definitely let it air out.

Get baking soda and put them in rooms and corners throughout the apartment

Same thing happened to us. You can buy air fresheners that are like sponges or little gel balls and they'll dry up as they absorb the smoke smell. We only had to use one and the smell was gone!

I know smoke stains walls. So can you have them repainted? Also clean the carpet

Steamcleaning carpet. Use vinager to wash the walls and clean windows trim etc.  If its bad enough you need to get the vents cleaned and change the furnace filter a few times. Any electronics like fridge and washer and dryer if provided need cleaned just take the backing off to get in it.... fifteen days you should be right as rain. Good luck

Hey have candles, sprays, and air fresheners that woukd help alot but once you sre there for a whike they smell should dull away

Ammonia with water in a spray bottle and spray the walls and wipe them down, spray the carpet with it and let it dry.
